Earnshaw takes gold by two seconds in Caithness Cycling Club hill climb





Caithness Cycling Club’s hill climb championship, the final competitive event of the season, was closely fought with Colin Earnshaw taking the men’s gold medal by just two seconds from Allan Sutherland and with Iain Miller and Alistair Miller tying for the bronze.

Jessica Simmons took the female gold.

Wick visitor Stuart Anderson posted the fastest time with an excellent 5 min 8 sec, 26 seconds behind Andrew MacLeod’s record of 4 min 32 sec set earlier this year.

Results: 1 Stuart Anderson (Wick Wheelers), 5 min 8 sec; 2 Colin Earnshaw, 6.17; 3, Allan Sutherland, 6.19; 4eq, Iain Miller and Alistair Miller, 6.44; 6eq Angus MacKay and Roger Broughton, 6.54; 8 Jessica Simmons, 7.29; 9 John Sinclair, 11.58.
