Dounreay Fly Fishing Association trophies are handed over

Dounreay Fly Fishing Association held its annual general meeting and presentation of trophies in the Brown Trout Hotel, with chairman George Robertson inviting Isobel Robertson to present the awards for the club's 2023 competitions.

Bank league: Loch Calder – Rusty Cup, Toby Bracey (heaviest fish – Tony Chalmers).

Toftingall – Bloody Foreigner Trophy: Alex Donald (heaviest fish – Toby Bracey).

Loch Watten – Robertson Cup: Neil Clyne (heaviest fish – Neil Clyne).

Loch Caluim – Ken Macleod Trophy: Tony Chalmers (heaviest fish – William Plank).

Hill Lochs – Iain Hay Trophy: Neil Clyne (heaviest fish – Neil Clyne).

Boat league: Loch Watten (day one) – President's Quaich: James Simpson (heaviest fish – William Plank).

All Lochs (evening) – Ian Hanna Trophy: Michael Skerrit (heaviest fish – Les Robertson)

Loch Watten (all night) – Hugo Ross Trophy: George Robertson (heaviest fish – James Simpson).

Loch Calder (day) – Parry (1966) Cup: Alex Donald (heaviest fish – Neil Clyne).

Loch Calder (evening) – KML Trophy: Toby Bracey (heaviest fish – Toby Bracey).

Loch Watten (early morning) – Grouse Trophy: Neil Clyne (heaviest fish – Neil Clyne).

Loch Watten (day two) – Parry (2009) Trophy: Robbie Hawken (heaviest fish – Robbie Hawken).

Championship trophies: Heaviest fish in a bank competition – Hoskins Cup: Neil Clyne (2 lb 3 oz, Watten).

Heaviest fish in a DFFA boat on Loch Watten – Mathiesen Trophy: James Simpson (2 lbs 11 oz).

Heaviest fish in a DFFA boat, any loch – Castle Trophy: James Simpson (2 lb 11 oz, Watten).

Bank league champion – Harper's Trophy: Neil Clyne.

Boat league champion – Rolls-Royce Vulcan Cup: Toby Bracey.

Senior champion – Gordon Douglas Cup: George Robertson.

Club champion – DFFA Cup: Toby Bracey (runner-up – Alex Donald).

The chairman began the meeting by thanking members for their attendance, and also those who had helped with boats and work around the various berths. He also thanked the Brown Trout Hotel for accommodating the club for meetings and competition weigh-ins.

Mr Robertson commented on the difficult fishing conditions on many of the lochs for a large part of the season.
