Donald leading the way after first of Wick and District Darts League pentathlon series

Kevin Donald (Castletown Poachers) is the early leader in Wick and District Darts League’s new pentathlon series, after the opening night at the Royal British Legion club in Thurso.

It was the first of four weekend competitions with £1000 up for grabs, based on a points system, with Simpson Contractors of Wick as main sponsor.

Results: Event “A” – Nine darts, highest score: Winner, Michael Sinclair (Smiddy “3”); runner-up, John Bain (RBL).

Event “B” – Nine darts, bull, 25s: Winner, John Sadler (Park); runner-up, Kevin Donald (Castletown Poachers).

Event “C” – 501 x 3: Winner, John Bain (RBL); runner-up, Marc Macgregor (Seaview).

Event “D” – 301 double start: Winner, Kevin Donald (Castletown Poachers); runner-up, Marc Macgregor (Seaview).

Event “E” – Shanghai: Winner, Willie Plank (Castletown Poachers); runner-up, Kevin Macgregor (Seaview).

The prizes on offer are £500 for first, £200 for second, £100 for third and £200 for top lady.

Kevin Donald is the early frontrunner with 14 points, ahead of Marc Macgregor (Seaview) and John Sadler (Park), both 11, Willie Plank (Castletown Poachers) and John Bain (RBL), both 10, Michael Sinclair (Smiddy “3”) on nine and Kevin Macgregor (Seaview) with seven.

The leading lady is Morgan Perry on four points, followed by Freda Perry (two) and Alison Tait (one).

Highland councillor Ron Gunn presented the prizes.

The County Fours and an open singles will take place in the Seaforth Highlanders’ Club in Wick on February 14.
