A trio of ex-Rangers stars will be in Thurso next month having dinner and telling a few stories at the Pentland Hotel.

Nacho Novo, Alex Rae and Marvin Andrews will speak at a sportsman's dinner on October 12 where they'll be reminiscing of their days as Rangers players.

The former Ibrox heroes will also be helping to raise funds for both the Thurso Football Academy and the Rangers Charity Foundation.

A few hours beforehand, Novo will be passing on some footballing skills as he will be running a training session for five to 11-year-olds at Thurso High School.

So popular were both events that they sold out within hours of being advertised.

Novo said: " I am delighted to be able to come back up to Thurso to coach the children and speak at the dinner.

"I hope these events will be a big success and we raise lots of money for these great causes."

Event organiser Alyn Gunn added: "We are delighted to be able to bring Alex, Nacho and Marvin north for what is sure to be a great couple of events. The kids will get a great experience meeting Nacho as it's not every day that you meet a Uefa Cup finalist and a winner of so many trophies.

"Alex and Marvin are great after-dinner speakers and were great players for Rangers, so it is shaping up to be a great occasion for the kids in the local community and Rangers supporters within Caithness. The funds we raise from the dinner will help the academy continue to put these events on for the children in the future.

"Special thanks must go to the event sponsors and Thurso Active Schools for their continued help and support with these events."
