Scott Davidson will be in charge of Thurso as they take on Fort William at the Dammies on Saturday, with the Vikings looking to get off the bottom of the North Caledonian League table.

It is Thurso's first game since the resignation of manager Michael Bremner, who announced he was stepping down after last weekend's 3-1 defeat to St Duthus in Tain. He admitted the decision had been "coming for a while".

Bremner had been in the post for almost two years.

Thurso's one win this season was a 4-2 victory over Alness United in their only home game so far.

The Vikings have often struggled to get a squad together but Davidson, who had been Bremner's assistant, will be hoping to get them back on track when they meet second-placed Fort.

The Lochaber side were knocked off top spot on Saturday when Invergordon staged a remarkable comeback from 3-0 down to win 4-3 at Claggan Park. The Easter Ross outfit are the new leaders.

Halkirk United, who had no game last weekend, travel to Ferry Brae Park in North Kessock to face Inverness Athletic.

The Anglers suffered their first defeat of the league campaign in their previous outing when they were beaten 1-0 at home by champions Loch Ness.

Results – North Caledonian League: Fort William 3, Invergordon 4; St Duthus 3, Thurso 1.

Football Times Cup – Semi-final: Bonar Bridge 2, Inverness Athletic 4. Quarter-finals: Golspie Sutherland 3, Alness United 1; Loch Ness 8, Clachnacuddin "A" 1.

North Caledonian League fixtures for Saturday, September 23: Inverness Athletic v Halkirk United (2pm); Loch Ness v Alness United Orkney v Invergordon; St Duthus v Bonar Bridge; Thurso v Fort William (2pm).
