WICK and District Darts League's annual league pairs titles were up for grabs this week.

The Seaforth Highlanders' Club was the venue on Tuesday night in the first of the back-to-back Christmas competitions.

Ann Wells and Rona Young won the ladies' event with a 3-0 victory in the final against Kara Sutherland and Freda Perry.

Semi-finalists were Liz and Lyn Ronaldson and Morgan Perry and Alison Tait. Yet again Kara Sutherland hit the highest score with a 140 and Freda Perry hit a 64 out-shot.

In the men's competition there was success for Taylor and Nicolson, although not the PDC duo Phil and Paul. Harper's men David Taylor and Alan Nicolson defeated the Queen's pair Kevin Donald and Billy Davidson 3-1 in the final.

Semi-finalists were Kevin Macgregor and Richard Thain along with Graham Sutherland and Sean Redmond.

Alan Nicolson and David Bain each hit a maximum.

In the second division event, Saulius Kazakauskas and Willie Maclean booked their final berth with a 3-1 victory over the Sinclair Bay pair Mark Thain and Eann Ronaldson while Tom Farmer and Harry Macbeath came a cropper against fellow Thrumster players Martin Campbell and Jordan Oag (also 3-1).

The Smiddy boys kept up the momentum and won at a canter in the final, 3-1 again.

Next week it is the Christmas Cracker in Harper's and then it is the festive break. The sum of £300 was paid out in prizes thanks to the league sponsor.
