DARTS: Begg displays vintage form
THE Queens Hotel was the venue for the annual Cricket Singles tournament staged by Wick Darts League.
A total of 17 players participated with Haster’s Malcolm Begg, turning the clock back to show some vintage form in beating Eain Ronaldson 3-0 and Mark Thain 3-0 and then Ray Sinclair 3-2 in the semi-final.
Sinclair nailed three bullseyes but Begg was not to be denied his place in the final.
George Smith meanwhile beat Marc Macgregor 3-0 and Dave Alexander 3-0 before coming back from 2-0 down to defeat his arch rival Kevin Macgregor 3-2.
The final was a bit off an anti-climax as Begg reeled three legs off for a convincing win.

In the ladies event, last year’s winner Dorothy Macgregor, from Seaview, was unable to defend her title.
Crown Bar’s Karen Calder took the title after defeating Francis Street Club’s Sharon Swanson 2-0 in the final. Losing semi-finalists were Claire Thain (Crown) and Trish Weir (Smiddy Inn).
The only maximum recorded in both events was by Norseman’s Ray Sinclair.
