THE latest action in Wick & District Darts League featured the annual pairs championship in the two men’s leagues and the women’s league.

Seaview’s Calum Shearer and Kevin Macgregor came through to defeat Harper’s pair Stewart Tait and David Bain to clinch the top flight trophy while Harper’s "B" duo Thomas Mulraine and George Macphee jnr had also to settle for the runners-up spot after losing in the final of the second division competition to Alec Miller and Graham Crowe, of Norseman "2". The honours in the women’s competition went to Crown duo Claire Thain and Karen Calder who scored a 3-0 win over Seaview’s Irene Macgregor & Irene Green in the final.

Individual performance of the evening came from David Bain who nailed four 180s over the course of the evening.

Results: Division One – first round – Calum Shearer and Kevin Macgregor bt John Macphee and Mark Thain 3-2. George Calder and John Bain bt Davy Coghill and Richard Thain 3-2. Stewart Tait and David Bain bt Tam Mulraine and Nicky Denoon 3-2. George Smith and Steven Hutton bt Neil Anderson and Jamie Wares 3-0.

Semi-final – Shearer and Macgregor beat Calder and Bain 3-2. Tait and Bain beat Smith and Hutton 3-2. Final – Shearer and Macgregor beat Tait and Bain 3-1.

Highest scores – David Bain four 180s and 112 check-out. George Smith, Graham Sutherland and Richard Thain, all 180.

Division Two – first round – Jamie Dalquin and Michael Morrice bt Ian Macdonald and Frazer Malcolm. Alec Miller and Graham Crowe bt Sandy Jappy and David Miller. Alan Harper and Ian Coghill bt Mark Frazer and Marc Macgregor. Thomas Mulraine and George Macphee jnr bt Paul Macdonald and George Macphee snr.

Semi-final – Miller and Crowe beat Morrice and Dalquin 3-0. T Mulraine and G Macphee bt A Harper and I Coghill 3-1. Final – Miller and Crowe beat Mulraine and Macphee 3-1.

Ladies – first round – Claire Thain and Karen Calder bt Carol Sutherland and Sandra Nicolson 3-2. Sheona Campbell and Sharon Swanson bt Violet Davidson and Dorothy Macgregor 3-1. Sharon Coghill and Sara Gunn bt Nicola Crowden and Keirie Mackay 3-2. Irene Macgregor and Irene Green bt Kirsty Coghill and Keira Jones 3-2.

Semi-final – Thain & Calder beat Campbell and Swanson 3-2. Macgregor and Green beat Coghill & Gunn 3-0. Final – Thain & Calder beat Macgregor & Green 3-0.
