Stuart Anderson of Wick Wheelers was again fastest in Caithness Cycling Club’s weekly 10-mile time trial.

Conditions were at last favourable, with an 8 mph north-west breeze and a temperature of 12 Celsius, which led to times on the outward leg and the return being very similar for all riders.

Second-placed Iain Miller put in a fine performance, improving his season’s best by 22 seconds and beating the 24 mph barrier by six seconds. This gave him five points in the Handicap League but Phil Cartwright bettered his 2023 time by 24 seconds to take the maximum six points.

There was a welcome return by endurance athlete Debbie Larnach, riding for the first time since 2019, to take third place.

Results: 1 Stuart Anderson, 22 min 06 sec; 2 Iain Miller, 24.54; 3 Debbie Larnach, 26.35; 4 Angus MacKay, 28.00; 5 Roger Broughton, 28.03; 6 Gary Angus, 28.17; 7 Phil Cartwright, 28.26; 8 Scott Phares (road bike), 28.34; 9 Martine Hughes (road bike), 34.06.
