CAITHNESS will be winging it tomorrow at the Dammies as they face Orkney in the annual Archer Shield challenge match.

Owing to a congested

CAFA league fixture list, boss Murray Coghill has been unable to find a suitable window for a squad

get-together to work on tactics.

Coghill said: “It will be a case of giving them a formation on the day when they all show up and hoping they can click immediately and put it to good use.

“It’s my first time in charge of Caithness and, as a former player, I am privileged to have the role. We’ve lost the last two Archer Shield games to Orkney so we’re hoping to stop that run from being extended.”

Orkney boss Karl Adamson has been dealt a blow with his skipper Erik Bews being out with a broken leg.

He said: “It’s a blow for Erik and ourselves. However, striker Thorfinn Stout is available before he heads off to Australia and will be captain.”

Wick Groats will play Thurso Acks in the final of the Eain MacIntosh Cup following their semi-final victories.

Groats defeated High Ormlie Hotspur 3-2. Alan Hughes,

Jack Henry and Sandy Sutherland were on target for them, with an Andy Mackay double for Spurs.

Acks beat John O’Groats 4-2 with goals from James Mackintosh, Sean Munro, Kuba Koziol and Paul Wares. Jimmy Budge and Marc Bremner replied for the visitors.
