WEEK 19 of the Wick Wheelers’ 10-mile time trial season provided excellent weather conditions and five riders took full advantage by posting personal best times on the night.

Youngsters William Gunn and Mark Webster both got PBs, with William recording a time of 30.14 while Mark finished fourth overall with an impressive 26.26 – one minute off his previous best.

New rider Nathan Mackay took almost two minutes off his personal best to finish eighth on 28.11.

Paul Bremner put in his season’s best with a 28.29 to finish ninth overall.

The weather conditions helped Graeme Clyne smash his best time by 28 seconds.

He finally broke the 24-minute barrier, clocking up the fastest Wick Wheeler rider time of the season on the course.

He was, however, unable to stop Andrew McLeod, from Caithness Cycling Club, winning the night.

McLeod equalled the fastest time on the course this season by Peter Fenwick, from Shetland, with a 22.59.

However, it did not come close to the overall course record which is still held by current Pro Team Raleigh and honorary Wick Wheeler Evan Oliphant and his time of 21.16 set in July 2005.

Results – 1 Andrew McLeod 22.59 CCC (PB). 2 Graeme Clyne 23.40 (PB). 3 Brian Grant 26.09. 4 Mark Webster 26.26 (PB). 5 Les Oliphant 27.06. 6 Steven Fraser 27.46 CCC. 7 Joan Henry 27.47. 8 Nathan Mackay 28.11 (PB). 9 Paul Bremner 28.29. 10 William Gunn 30.14 (PB). 11 John Sinclair 30.35 CCC.
