Wick's St Fergus Bowling Club opened its new season on Saturday afternoon, and there was a break with tradition as two jacks were thrown instead of one.

Club president Malky Mackay has two grandsons – seven-year-old Harry Heaton and his three-year-old brother Calum – and they performed the opening ceremony together, watched by club members and guests.

Following the season-opening ceremony, Robert Bremner, of Bremner and Findlater Electrical Contractors, was presented with an honorary life membership in recognition of the help he has given St Fergus Bowling Club over a period of almost 20 years.
