Clear win for Miller in weekly 10-mile time trial

Alistair Miller had a clear win in Caithness Cycling Club’s weekly 10-mile time trial – but, on a cool evening at just 10C and a 20 mph north wind, he was over a minute behind his best this season.

Nick Simmons put in a very good performance for second place in his first race, while David Anderson and Angus Mackay significantly improved their times. Anderson sliced 82 seconds from his best and Mackay scored the only personal best of the evening with a 37-second improvement.

Results: 1 Alistair Miller, 26 min 41 sec; 2 Nick Simmons, 28.09; 3 Lorna Stanger, 29.11; 4 David Anderson, 29.40; 5 Angus Mackay, 29.43; 6 Gary Angus, 30.06; 7 Phil Cartwright, 31.08; 8 Martine Hughes, 34.55.
