Wick Academy’s under-15s swept to an impressive 6-0 victory over their Clach counterparts in a Highland Youth League fixture at Harmsworth Park on Sunday.
The young Scorries played up the slope in the first third and produced some attractive football on the excellent surface. Andrew Brims opened the scoring with a brilliant left-foot shot from 20 yards.
The home side continued to dominate with some great passing and the second goal wasn’t long in coming when Aidan Miller put Kieran Macgregor in on goal and he made no mistake.
Macgregor got his second from a fine cross by the hard-working Scott Durrand.
The second third had no goals but plenty of chances with Clach’s keeper denying Miller and Macgregor.
The final third saw Miller get the goal he deserved with a driving run and finish.
The fifth goal was credited to Elliot Cormack after his strike was deflected into the net by a defender. The sixth came from the penalty spot when Brims was brought down and Miller sent the goalie the wrong way.
Coach John Suttar said: “I must give credit to the whole team for entertaining the good crowd that turned up. We would like to thank Wick Academy for letting us play on the Harmsworth.”
