Fifteen riders took part in Wick Wheelers 10-mile time trial.

WEEK three of the Wick Wheelers 10-mile time trial series saw slightly better weather conditions boosting the numbers back up to 15.

There was a tricky wind to contend with between the start line and Milton but once the long stretch up the straight had been negotiated things became slightly easier. This was evidenced by times which were at least a minute or two quicker than in previous weeks.

Caithness Cycling Club riders dominated proceedings with Andrew "Hamper" McLeod (24.10) holding off Alan Sutherland (24.33) to finish top of the pile. First Wick Wheeler was the fast improving David McCarthy who squeezed home four seconds in front of stalwart Brian Grant.

David’s 27.05 was a personal best and once the weather improves there could be some very fast times ahead for him. Alun Arnold, finding his legs in his first TT of this season, recorded 27.43 in third position. One other PB was recorded on the evening with Danny Miller shaving a big chunk off his previous best to come home in 33.30.

In the points league, David McCarthy is bridging the gap between himself and Grant at the top and Ian Nicholson leapfrogged Gordon Smart to assume third place on his own.

Youngster Mark Webster has also forced his way into the top five with some consistent cycling.

League — 1 equal Brian Grant (29) 89 and David McCarthy (30) 89. 3 Ian Nicholson (27) 78. 4 Gordon Smart (26) 77. 5 Mark Webster (23) 71.

Results — Andrew McLeod 24.10 (CCC). Alan Sutherland 24.33 (CCC). David McArthy 27.05 (PB). Brian Grant 27.09. Alun Arnold 27.43. Ian Nicolson 28.04. Graeme Clyne 28.31. Gordon Smart 28.34.
