CASTLETOWN regained their place in the top flight after clinching promotion from Division Two with a 5-2 thumping of nearest challengers Wick Thistle.

Goals from Chris Sutherland (2), Jack McKechnie (2) and Shane Kennedy sealed the deal as Castletown made up for their relegation from Division One last year by going back up at the first attempt.

Thistle’s goals came via Ross Macleod and Steven Reid and they will now face the second-bottom side in Division One in a play-off to see who will be among the big boys next year.

Castletown boss James Robertson said: “We’re glad to get it done and dusted at this stage of the season. Had we lost, the last thing we wanted do was to go into the final game of the season away to FC Retro needing a win to clinch the title.

“I feel we deserved it as we played the best football. Fair play to Thistle for making sure the campaign was not easy for us.”

Elsewhere, High Ormlie Hotspur hammered Thurso Pentland 5-1. Spurs’ goals came from Andrew Mackay (3), Ben Gordon and Don Swanson, with Scott Ross replying for Pentland.

Keiss thrashed Top Joes 7-1 with Alan Ferrier (3), Gary Gunn, Ricky Robertson, Kris Campbell and Jordan Tait on target. Mark Munro replied for Joes.

Francis Street Club got their first win of the season, beating Watten 2-1. Pep de Vita and Craig McNeil scored for FSC with Shane Honeyman hitting back for Watten.
