IT was goals galore in the two latest rounds of CAFA Second Division matches.

League leaders Castletown smashed in a total of 16 in their fixtures as they maintained a one-point lead over Wick Thistle.

Their first victims were Top Joes whom they saw off 3-1. Benn Murray, Michael Smith and Chris Sutherland were on target for Castletown with Derek Campbell replying for the opposition.

However, in their next match, Castletown made sure it was unlucky 13 for rock-bottom Francis Street Club.

A one-sided affair saw Francis Street’s goalie risking a bad back with the amount of times he had to pick the ball out of the net as goals from Chris Sutherland (3), Connor Macintosh (5) and Michael Smith (2), Benn Murray and Shane Kennedy (2) completed a thumping 13-0 rout.

Wick Thistle kept up their promotion chances with a goal glut of their own as they fired in 15 in their two fixtures.

They had to see off a determined challenge from High Ormlie Hotspur to edge out the Thurso side 4-3.

Marc Gunn, Stephen Budge, Owen Harrold and Andy Falconer struck for Thistle with Spurs’ goals coming from Lee Sutherland, Andrew Mackay and Ryan Sutherland.

However, things proved to be much easier against Top Joes as a clinical display resulted in an 11-1 victory.

Ross McLeod (4), Colin Henstridge (3), Andy Falconer (2), Taylor Campbell and an own goal did the damage for Thistle, with Travis Lawrence grabbing Joes’ solitary reply.

Elsewhere, Tony Miller (2), Jack Steven, Scott MacDonald and Jordan Howden hit the mark for FC Retro in a 5-0 win over Francis Street Club.

However, Retro were brought back down to earth two days later after High Ormlie Hotspur defeated them 4-0 thanks to goals from Andrew Mackay (2), Korbyn Cameron and an own goal.

Watten got back to winning ways by defeating Keiss 3-2. Scott MacAlpine, Shane Honeyman and Darryl O’Sullivan were on target for Watten with the Keiss goals coming via Adam Sherry and Alan Ferrier.
