Caithness United under-13s ran amok against Fort William on Saturday in their third match of the Moray Firth Youth Development League, racking up an 18-1 victory.

Caithness dominated from start to finish in unseasonably warm conditions on the artificial surface at Inverness Royal Academy to continue their impressive start to the season.

Some excellent free-flowing football and a super work ethic made for pleasant viewing for the coaching staff.

The Caithness scorers were Sam Reid (4), Lee Gordon (3), Owen Bain (2), Scott McDonald (2), Euan Kennedy (2), Joshua Hughes, Morgan Kennedy, Stevie Esson and Matthew Robertson along with an own goal.

Coach Alan Kennedy was full of praise for the players, saying: “Kyran Alexander’s man-of-the-match performance underlined what the team did collectively. He never put a foot wrong and worked tirelessly throughout, both going forward and in defence.

"His industrious performance provided the ideal base from which our offensive players capitalised. We will be working the squad hard again in training to ensure that they carry this level of performance into the coming weeks."

Kyran Alexander’s man-of-the-match performance underlined what the team did collectively.

Wick Academy’s under-15s had a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Do Soccer at Balintore on Sunday.

The Wick lads played some great stuff in the first third and created numerous chances but couldn’t convert any. Scott Durrand did well on the left for his first start.

In the second third Wick lost their shape and started playing a long-ball game. Do Soccer had a few chances but these were dealt with by some good saves from Leo Shearer, and effective defending from Lewis Gill, Finlay Marshall and Ethan Kevill.

The home side nearly broke the deadlock from a corner but the ball was brilliantly cleared off the line by Andrew Brims.

Scott Levack made some good runs down the right but the final ball was too close to the goalkeeper.

Do Soccer took the lead with a good finish inside the box. Academy won a free kick in a wide area and from the resultant cross Aidan Miller reacted quickly to blast the ball high into the net to tie it up at 1-1.

Coaches John Suttar and Paul Lockhart said they were delighted with the first third and the way the team responded after going a goal down.

“It was good, hard game in really warm conditions and once again many thanks to the great turnout of parents making the journey down,” Suttar added.
