Darren Bain (12), of Charity Farm, Wick, took the win at a non-Motorsport UK event in Golspie on Sunday, Ian Campbell (10) from Watten was second and Andrew Sutherland (10) from Thurso took third spot.

The race was red flagged with three laps to go after Ryan Fraser from Inverness was involved in an accident with Bruno Simonelli of Dingwall. Ryan is reported to have hurt his foot but is keen to get back to racing.

Andrew led the race after the restart with Lewis Stewart from Dingwall in second position but nothing separated the first four karts. A slight coming together with Andrew and Lewis on turn three opened the door for Darren and Ian, and Darren held on to take the win.

Jack Elder (7) from Dunbeath came first in the bambino class at the event, with another Caithness racer, Jordan Broughton (8), finishing second.

Jack only started karting in March and has so far competed in the Scottish championship in July where he finished second. He is also racing in the Scottish super series where he is currently third in the standings after races in Golspie, Boyndie and Crail.
