Caithness host champions Clachnacuddin to kick off Highlands and Islands League next month

The Highlands and Islands Women's League will kick off on Sunday, June 20.

Champions Clachnacuddin will start their defence of the title in Thurso when they take on Caithness.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle Development will start their campaign when they host Orkney.

Nairn St Ninian will face Sutherland at Nairn Showfield on the opening day with Brora Rangers kicking off against Buckie.

Kirkwall City have a bye week in the first round of the nine-team division.

The league will be played until Sunday, October 10.

Scottish Women’s Football (SWF) chairperson Vivienne MacLaren said: “One of our key goals is to get more girls and women playing and this league epitomises this.

"Girls and women should have the opportunity to participate in structured football regardless of their geography – the creation and success of this league is one of our proudest achievements."
