Caithness Tang Soo Do students bring back medals from Highland competition
Six students from the Caithness Tang Soo Do martial arts club based in Halkirk competed at the Tang Soo Do Highland Championships held at Alness Leisure Centre.
The competition last Saturday attracted competitors from clubs across the Highlands and Moray, all demonstrating their skills in various disciplines, including Sparring, Empty Hand Forms and Weapons forms.
The Caithness Tang Soo Do students all performed well on the day, and between them brought home a total of 12 medals.
They were – Eoghan Speirs, third in Creative Weapons; Ella Macleod, third in Nun-chucks; Mia McGregor, first in Empty Hand Forms, second in Sparring, third in Bo-Staff and third in Nun-chucks; Ella Simpson, first in Sparring and second in Empty Hand Forms; Rebecca Henyel, third in Sparring and third in Empty Hand Forms; Logan Barnett, first in Empty Hand Forms and third in Bo-Staff.
Club instructor Stephen Mezals said: "This is a fantastic result for Caithness Tang Soo Do. All the students have been working hard to prepare themselves for this competition and it certainly showed on the day. They should all be extremely proud of their results, and it was great to see such good competitive spirit from them all."
