STUDENTS at the Caithness Tang Soo Do martial arts club have been awarded next-level belts after some tough testing at the Ross Institute in Halkirk.

Master Kelly O’Connor (6th Dan) of Scotland Tang Soo Do presided over the grading panel and saw an impressive display of grit and determination from 11 students, who were put through a gruelling two-hour session that tested them on various martial art skills.

As a result, the club now has six new green belts, three new orange tags and three new orange belts.

Club instructors Stephen Mezals and Arizona Morence (both 3rd Dans) were delighted with the outcome.

They said: “We’re extremely proud of all our students and we congratulate those who have graded to the next belt level.

"They turn up to training week in, week out, and give it their all. This kind of commitment and dedication stands them in good stead in their journey towards gaining a black belt.”
