THIRTY swimmers made a splash at the first Caithness swim camp held in Wick.
Held in the East Caithness Community Facility, the joint venture between Wick and Thurso swim clubs was made possible from the support of the Caithness and North Sutherland Fund.
Five top Scottish coaches headed up by the Highland Swim Team performance development coach Jimmy Orr made the trip to Caithness to help train the Caithness swimmers.
Vicky Mackay, secretary of the Wick Amateur Swimming Club, said: "The week was hard, tiring and fun and covered swim techniques in and out of the pool to help our swimmers achieve more in the future."
The week had begun with a demonstration from Max Haggan who started out his swimming career in Wick before he moved to Glasgow to gain the extra training needed.
Vicky said: "Some of our very own national swimmers were also included in the demonstrations and many of the local Thurso and Wick coaches took part learning new skills and joining in the fun."
The finale was a mini-Olympics where combined Wick and Thurso teams competed on land and in the pool, which provided "a fabulous atmosphere and end to an exhausting but fun week".
She added: "This was a great event to have on our doorstep in Caithness, making the most of the excellent facility in Wick, giving access to tuition, development and coaching that is available to city swim teams and helping the development of both clubs on the competitive circuit."
