Caithness quartet help Highland Badminton Group to third place

Four players from Caithness Junior Badminton Club travelled to Glasgow to represent Highland Badminton Group in the 2024 Junior Restricted Inter-Group U15 on Sunday. The team finished third.

The Caithness quartet were Dhaill Mackay, Rory Nicolson, Matthew Cook and Ashlyn Gunn. Each played a minimum of six games over the course of the day in the round-robin tournament against the other groups.

Each round saw two boys’ singles, two girls’ singles, two boys’ doubles, two girls’ doubles and two mixed doubles matches take place, one game to 21 with setting.

First up they played Glasgow and North Strathclyde Group, with Highland being beaten 8-2.

Next up they faced Lothian Badminton Group and Highland lost 9-1.

They then won 10-0 against Lanarkshire Badminton Group.

Their final round was against West of Scotland Badminton Group which would decide who came third, and Highland clinched the victory by 6-4.
