Caithness Ladies will be looking to avenge last weekend’s cup loss to Orkney when the teams meet again on Sunday, this time with league points at stake.

The islanders were 3-1 winners at Morrison Park in the opening round of group ties in the revamped Highlands and Islands League Cup. Clachnacuddin are the other team in Group A.

Anna Foubister gave Caithness a first-half lead but Orkney responded after the break with goals from Lauren Poke, Reese Flaws and Abi Coltherd.

Caithness player of the match was goalkeeper Geena Hossack.

Orkney will be back in Caithness this Sunday when the teams meet in the SWF Highlands and Islands League.

Last week, head coach Tom McKenna praised Caithness Ladies for their positive attitude, saying: “The girls are so enthusiastic, they’re ambitious, they really want to do well and they’re committed to it.”

Caithness reached the final of the Highlands and Islands League Cup last year.

Results – SWF Highlands and Islands League Cup: Caithness 1, Orkney 3; Nairn 3, Ross and Cromarty 5; Sutherland 1, Buckie 2.

Fixtures for Sunday, April 21 – SWF Highlands and Islands League: Caithness v Orkney (venue TBC, 2.30pm); Nairn v Buckie; Ross and Cromarty v Clachnacuddin; Sutherland v Ross County.
