Caithness driver Jack Ryan faces a long trip to East Ayrshire this weekend for round two of the 2023 Junior 1000 Ecosse season.

He and his navigator Robin Nicolson are listed among 14 crews lining up for Sunday's Albar Kames Trophy Rally, supported by Lochlie Construction Group.

The event features 16 stages at Kames Motorsport Complex just outside Muirkirk.

Jack and Robin have a strong podium record at Kames and finished third overall at the first event of the 2023 J1000 season, the Memorial Garden Junior Stages Rally at the Condor Royal Navy base near Arbroath, in the Volkswagen Up.

They gained second-place points after an unintentional breach of championship regulations by Rian Walker and Stuart McBride.

The Castletown teenager won the award for top Scottish driver in last year's Junior 1000 Ecosse, the eight-round championship for drivers aged 14-17. Jack was also presented with the award for the farthest-travelled competitor.

Walker and McBride top the entry list this weekend. The Citigo crew are fresh from a convincing win at the Rainworth Skoda Junior Stages in Yorkshire.

Round one winners Oliver Phillips and Barry Young line up second in their Citigo. Kames has not been the happiest of hunting grounds for Oliver, preferring more open venues over the tight and twisty nature of the Ayrshire circuit.

Jack would welcome any enquiries about sponsorship.
