Wick visitor Stuart Swanson posted the fastest time in Caithness Cycling Club’s weekly 10-mile time trial and Angus MacKay just edged out Alistair Miller for second place.

Due to roadworks on the A9 the event was again held on the much slower Shebster course and MacKay, Roger Broughton and Gary Angus all did well to get within 50 seconds of their best times for 2023, all on the Stainland course.

Iain Miller still leads the Handicap League with just two weeks remaining but Angus MacKay and Gary Angus are close behind and, with a maximum of six points each week, competition for the medals is still wide open.

Results: 1 Stuart Swanson, 26 min 22 sec; 2 Angus MacKay, 26.47; 3 Alistair Miller, 26.54; 4 Roger Broughton, 27.51; 5 Scott Phares, 27.54; 6 Gary Angus, 28.46; 7 Alasdair Washington, 30.02; 8 Martine Hughes, 35.37.

Handicap League: 1 Iain Miller (50.5 points); 2 Angus MacKay (46.5); 3 Gary Angus (45); 4 Alistair Miller (40).
