Week 17 of Caithness Cycling Club’s 10-mile time trial season was back to the usual and faster Stainland course, and several riders posted their best times of the season – led by Scott Phares and Alasdair Washington, with betterments of 66 and 59 seconds respectively.

This was despite less than perfect conditions, with riders taking two to three minutes longer on the outward leg.

Fastest was again Iain Miller, in 25 min 8 sec, 18 seconds ahead of Alistair Miller, and Iain still heads the Handicap League from Gary Angus with only four events remaining. Competition is particularly close for the bronze medal, where four riders are separated by just 3.5 points.

Results: 1 Iain Miller, 25 min 08 sec; 2 Alistair Miller, 25.26; 3 Scott Phares, 26.41; 4 Roger Broughton, 27.09; 5 Angus MacKay, 27.13; 6 Alasdair Washington, 27.34; 7 Martine Hughes, 33.27.

Handicap League: 1 Iain Miller (47.5 points); 2 Gary Angus (41); 3 Angus MacKay (36.5); 4 Alasdair Washington (34); 5eq Martine Hughes and Alistair Miller (33).
