Caithness Cycling Club: Anderson is clear winner with 27.5 mph average speed

Caithness Cycling Club’s weekly 10-mile time trial saw a clear win for Wick visitor Stuart Anderson, who stormed round at an average speed of 27.5 mph to clock 21 min 46 sec.

Runner-up Iain Miller was 29 seconds behind his season’s best the previous week but all the other riders had their fastest times this year.

Foremost was Angus MacKay who posted a personal best by a massive 63 seconds, followed by Martine Hughes with a season’s best by 40 seconds, and Scott Phares who took 35 seconds off his PB.

Angus MacKay gained the maximum of six points in the Handicap League, where Iain Miller holds a slender lead with 40.5 points, followed by Gary Angus (39) and MacKay (33.5).

Results: 1 Stuart Anderson, 21 min 46 sec; 2 Iain Miller, 25.23; 3 Alistair Miller, 25.48; 4 Angus MacKay, 26.08; 5 Chris Gregory, 26.35; 6 Roger Broughton, 27.28; 7 Scott Phares (road bike), 27.47; 8 Gary Angus, 27.54; 9 Martine Hughes (road bike), 33.25.
