Caithness Ladies dazzled in the Orkney sun as they eclipsed Kirkwall City 7-2.

A hat-trick apiece from Carly Erridge and Eilidh McFarlane sealed the rout with the Thurso-based side's other strike coming via Donna Majilton. Lauren Poke hit in a consolation double for Kirkwall.

Erridge got proceedings off and running as a mazy run left the Kirkwall defence bamboozled before she slotted home from close range.

They made it 2-0 when Erin Gunn's run and cross was met by the unmarked McFarlane.

Erridge bagged her second with a well-taken effort, and Majilton made it 4-0 soon after with a blistering shot.

Poke grabbed one back just before half-time with a superb individual effort to give the home side a glimmer of hope.

However, a diving header from McFarlane just after the interval extended Caithness's lead.

Poke netted again for Kirkwall but that proved to be their last act of defiance as Erridge and McFarlane wrapped up their respective trebles.

The victory follows on from Caithness's 5-3 win against Inverness Caley Thistle's development squad. They are next in action on league business away to Buckie on September 8.
