Caithness aiming to reach SWF Highlands and Islands League Cup final
Caithness Ladies will be aiming to reach the final of the SWF Highlands and Islands League Cup for the second year in a row when they take on Sutherland this weekend.
Head coach Tom McKenna says the players are confident about their chances in Sunday’s semi-final in Castletown despite a couple of absentees.
“We beat them in the semi-finals last year, and they beat us 5-1 in the league this year,” he said.
“We know what we’ve got to do. The girls know their roles and responsibilities within the game and they’re clued up to how we've got to function on Sunday.
“We’re missing a couple of players who are quite important to us so it’s going to be difficult. But we’ll be confident."

Caithness progressed to the last four by beating Clachnacuddin 6-1.
Sunday’s match is their first competitive outing since the summer break, although they have been training twice a week.
McKenna said: “Regarding game time there will be an element of rustiness there but it’s the same for both teams.”
The match kicks off at 2pm.
Caithness lost out to double winners Buckie in the 2023 final.
