Bremner wants Vikings to cut out 'switching-off moments' as Orkney visit Dammies
Manager Michael Bremner is confident Thurso can get the better of Orkney this weekend if they produce a "90-minute performance".
The Vikings are on a three-game losing run in the North Caledonian League but Bremner feels most of the sides are closely matched.
The 3-1 home loss to St Duthus last Saturday left Thurso in 10th place in the 13-team division with two wins and five defeats from seven league games.
"It doesn't get any easier," Bremner said ahead of the visit by the in-form islanders who are seventh in the table. "It's just so tight, anybody could beat anybody.
"We're on a bit of a bad run but there's not much between any of the teams.
"Orkney is going to be a tough one. They hammered Golspie [6-1] in their last game.
"They didn't start that great this season but they've fairly kicked on. It's always tight against Orkney.
"Hopefully we'll produce a good performance for the full 90 minutes. I'm quite confident that we can win if we produce a 90-minute performance.
"We just need something to fall our way."
Thurso opened the scoring against St Duthus at Grant Park with a well-taken strike by Aaron Wilson. Jake Lockett levelled with an unstoppable free kick, then Stefan McRitchie put the Tain side ahead midway through the second half before Shaun Marshall made sure of the points late on.
Bremner said: "We started well and scored a really good goal. It would have been good if we'd kept the lead just a bit longer.
"It was a world-class free kick they scored to equalise, from about 30 or 35 yards and in off the underside of the bar. Nobody could have saved it.
"We came back at it again. It was a good performance, I can't complain. I felt we should have had a penalty just before half-time.
"In the second half we switched off at a corner and they scored. We left a boy unmarked at the back post, so that was frustrating.
"They scored in the last minute, just a breakaway really.
"Overall we showed a bit of promise in the first half, a bit of fight.
"It was just a silly switching-off moment again. Every time we do it we seem to concede and then we're trying to get back into it.
"But take nothing away from Tain – they're a good team, they're solid."
