Thurso manager Michael Bremner praised his players for their resolute defensive display against North Caledonian League leaders Loch Ness.

The visitors had scored 18 goals in their previous three outings but had to settle for a 0-0 draw in last weekend's encounter with the Vikings at Halkirk.

Bremner will be looking for his team to build on that result when they travel to North Kessock on Saturday to take on Inverness Athletic.

"Loch Ness have been flying and they've scored multiple goals in most games," Bremner said. "We defended brilliantly. Everybody battled for each other.

"We had a couple of our defenders back as well, Rob McLean and Andy Hardwick, and that made a big difference. They marshalled it perfectly.

"We were a bit toothless in attack. We did have a couple of chances, and I would say we had the best chance of the game, just at the end of the first half.

"Other than that we didn't really create much, but we stopped them from creating chances."

The match was switched to Morrison Park after a section in the middle of the pitch at Sir George's Park was deemed unplayable following recent rain.

A minute's silence was observed in memory of the Vikings' former captain Shaun Moar.

"We were desperate to get the game on at the Dammies but it just didn't work out," Bremner said.

Inverness Athletic, who lost 3-2 at home to Halkirk United on Saturday, are fifth in the table while Thurso are 10th.

"We'll be hoping to push on from last week," Bremner said.

"They're a good team, they've had a lot of good results.

"We'll be confident in ourselves. We'll take the game to them and see how we get on."

Hardwick will miss out through work commitments. Luke Manson and James McLean are injured but Chrissy Green should be back.

Invergordon kept up their winning run on Saturday with a 5-1 victory over Bonar Bridge at Migdale.

Jack Mackay scored twice for the champions, with their other goals coming from Ben Kelly, Ken Morrison and Callum Murray. Daniel Hutchison pulled one back for Bonar

Invergordon are now in third place, eight points behind Loch Ness with two games in hand.

Nairn County "A" pulled off a surprise 3-2 victory over Alness United.

Alexander Mackay gave Alness the lead but Nairn hit back with goals from Kieran Duffty, Grant Hogg and Tyler Eadie before Mackay scored again in stoppage time.

Clachnacuddin "A" went down 4-3 to Fort William in the Friday night game.

Michael Rodgers, Shaquille Wynter-Coles (2) and Asad Ahmed scored for the Lochaber outfit, with Thomas Lewis (2) and Kieran Syrjanen getting the Clach goals.

North Caledonian League results: Bonar Bridge 1, Invergordon 5; Fort William 4, Clachnacuddin "A" 3; Inverness Athletic 2, Halkirk United 3; Nairn County "A" 3, Alness United 2; Thurso 0, Loch Ness 0.
