There was a great turnout in beautiful sunshine for the opening day of the season at Thurso Bowling Club.

A crowd of nearly 50 people watched the club president, Douglas Morrison, assisting 88-year-old birthday girl Lily Wilson as she threw the first jack on Saturday.

This was followed by a helter-skelter with 28 members taking part. Tea and cake followed and even a wee dram was had by some.

This Saturday (April 22) there will be a "come and try" session starting at 2pm. Lynne Swanson and her helpers will offer tuition and a few fun games. Flat-soled shoes are all that are needed.
