Billy Thomson completed a treble when he was crowned as champion at the GMR Henderson Builders Ltd Autumn Open held at Harpsdale Fishery Park.
He had come out on top in both the spring and summer opens earlier in the year.
Although the weather on Saturday was favourable for spectators, it wasn’t the best fishing conditions with little wind and bright sunshine most of the day. This didn’t hamper the fishing too much, with the end count just falling short of 60 fish landed with 19 fishers taking part.
Ronnie Bain landed the first fish within the first 10 minutes, followed closely by Robert Dunbar and Toby Bracey.
The heaviest fish was also landed within the first session, a superb 8lb rainbow landed by Billy Thomson.
Billy went on to land another fish over the 7lb mark on his way to winning his third championship at Harpsdale, ending his day on 18 points, with Toby Bracey and Dennis Miller on 14 points each.
A winter league competition will be held over five weekends throughout November, December and January. More details can be found on the Harpsdale Fishery Facebook page.
