PLAYERS from all over Scotland travelled to Caithness for the fifth annual Harper's Darts Weekend, a £10,000 prize event.

Friday night saw the mixed pairs competition, which was won by Scottish internationalist Scott Robertson from Aberdeen and Joan Milne from Turriff. They beat Vicky Fraser from New Pitsligo and Cumbria's Brian Woods, a PDC player, 6-1 in the final.

Saturday was the big one with £1500 for the winners, with ladies receiving the same prize money as men. Lorraine Hyde (Ayrshire) defeated the 2016 champion Kate Smith (Forfar) 6-4 in the ladies' final.

In the men's event Martin Murison from Inverness came from 0-4 down in his semi-final against Brian Woods to win 5-4. He went on to lift the title with a 6-4 victory over Aberdonian Matt Goldie.

On Sunday the pairs titles went Lynn Shearer and Joan Milne with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Sharon Leslie and Christine Hyde (Grampian), while Scott Robertson and Steven Michie (Aberdeen) beat Highland duo Nicky Denoon and Barry Maclean 6-2. The Angus Ross memorial trophies were also contested.

There are four competitions – two confined to Wick and District Darts League players and two for players from outwith the area.

Martin Nicolson defeated Kevin Donald 3-0 to lift the fabulous trophy in the WDDL final. Freda Perry won the ladies' event by the same scoreline over Crown Bar player Liz Ronaldson.

Andy Boulton won the men's from outwith the area and Lorraine Hyde was the ladies' winner.
