Nucleus is to host another evening of football reminiscences at the start of next month.

The archive centre in Wick had a positive response to its first Caithness Football Memories session in March and it is hoped quarterly meetings can be held.

The aim is to offer a friendly, informal environment to reminisce about the county’s rich footballing past.

The next event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, from 6pm-8pm.

Caithness archivist Jamie McCaffrey said: “We were delighted to see so many people at the first meeting of Caithness Football Memories and hope that anyone who missed the first session will be able to come along on June 4.

“It was great to hear stories and memories from those who attended – and also a huge thank-you to everyone who brought along records, photographs and memorabilia to share.”

Those who put their names down at the first session have received an email inviting them to come along again.

“There will be a chance to reminisce over tea, coffee and biscuits, as well as explore photographs, records and stories connected to Caithness football,” it says. “Bring along your own keepsakes, memories and stories to share with the rest of the group. Everyone is welcome.

“Over the past few years the Caithness Archive at Nucleus has received several significant deposits of football records and photographs. This has led to the establishment of Caithness Football Memories – a reminiscence group for anyone and everyone with an interest in Caithness football, past and present. We held our first open night in March 2025 and plan to continue holding them quarterly.”

The Caithness Archive has created the Caithness Football Memories Collection to preserve the records, photographs, stories and memories of anyone with a connection to local football.

All records will be conserved, fully catalogued and made accessible to the public so that the history of football in the county can be captured for future generations.
