Wick-born boxer James Paterson has claimed another Scottish title – and is hoping to turn professional in the near future.

His latest triumph came in the Scottish super heavyweight intermediate E class 92+kg at Ravenscraig sports centre in Motherwell.

Paterson attended Wick's Hillhead Primary School before moving to Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The 23-year-old is a member of CAIN Boxing Club.

Two years ago he won the super heavyweight novice championship of Scotland.

His parents are Brian and Sarah Paterson and he is a grandson of James and Irene Gray, formerly of Haster.
