Thurso boss Michael Bremner is looking for his squad to turn out in their numbers for this weekend’s Macleod and MacCallum North Caledonian League match away to Bonar Bridge.

The Vikings are currently on a run of three consecutive defeats, having also dropped out of the Football Times Cup. The manager has faced a selection headache in recent weeks due to the unavailability of players, but is hoping that they can turn the corner this weekend as they return to league business.

He said: “Bonar Bridge is a tough place to go. All of their results have been close this year so we will need to be at our best to get a result.

“I’ve no doubt if we can get our strongest eleven out, we can match most teams in the league – but each week we’re missing five or six and that’s what’s hurting us.

“I am hopeful that we can get a strong squad together this weekend, and get a performance out of the boys to kick start our league campaign, and stop the rot after losing three games in a row.”

Halkirk United also return to league action after ten days without a game, welcoming Fort William to Morrison Park for a first time competitive meeting between the clubs.

The Anglers last played on Wednesday September 14, claiming a resounding 3–0 win over neighbours Thurso.

Ewan McElroy’s men have recorded back-to-back wins in the league, also beating Alness United – a form record which Fort have matched under new boss Alan Gray.

The new look Lochaber side travel to Halkirk looking to build on an impressive win over 5–1 and a fruitful visit to Caithness a fortnight ago, beating Thurso 2–1.

North Caledonian League fixtures for September 24: Halkirk United v Fort William; Golspie Sutherland v Nairn County ‘A’; Orkney v Alness United (12.45pm); Loch Ness v St Duthus; Bonar Bridge v Thurso; Inverness Athletic v Invergordon. Kicks off are 2pm unless stated.
