Halkirk United will go up to fourth in the North Caledonian League if they can take maximum points from their away match against Alness United on Wednesday night.

The Anglers were hit by another postponement at the weekend when their scheduled game at Bonar Bridge was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

Halkirk will be hoping striker Jonah Martens is fit for the midweek trip.

Assistant manager Liam Anderson said: "We'll be travelling with a strong squad – we're only missing a couple. But there is a doubt over Jonah after suffering a knock in training. Hopefully he pulls through.

"We went to Alness in the Football Times Cup at the start of the season and suffered a 2-1 defeat so we know we will have to be at our best to get the three points."

Thurso had a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over Inverness Athletic at the Dammies. Lewis Mackillop got the goal, his first for the club, with 10 minutes remaining.

The Vikings remain in bottom spot, but only on goal difference from Bonar Bridge, and Scott Davidson's side have two games in hand.
