Anderson in fine form with time trial double at Wick and Thurso
Wick Wheelers’ fourth time trial saw the biggest turnout and best weather so far.
Yvonne Richard’s first time trial since 2019 saw her break the 30-minute barrier, beating Stephanie MacNeil for first lady.
Stuart Anderson was in fine form to record his best time this season by 49 seconds and another clear win.
Danny Miller finished second, ahead of Stuart Swanson (without the aerodynamic aids of the other riders) in third.
Alister Miller made his season debut and finished alongside Stuart Swanson, albeit one minute behind in fourth place.

Iain Miller improved by over four minutes from the previous week, finishing with 26.58 and fifth place.
James Munro edged Charlie Mackay for sixth, with George Ewing also improving his season’s best to finish eighth.
Times: 1 Stuart Anderson, 22 min 23 sec; 2 Danny Miller, 24.31; 3 Stuart Swanson, 25.04; 4 Alister Miller, 26.04; 5 Iain Miller, 26.58; 6 James Munro, 28.13; 7 Charlie Mackay, 28.14; 8 George Ewing, 28.43; 9 Yvonne Richard, 29.43; 10 Stephanie MacNeil, 30.39.
In Thurso-based Caithness Cycling Club’s second 10-mile time trial of the season, Stuart Anderson (Wick Wheelers) stormed round in the superb time of 22 min 44 sec, two minutes ahead of team-mate Danny Miller.
First Caithness CC rider was Roger Broughton, who took 27 seconds off his previous week’s time to clock 27.30.
Conditions were not the fastest, with a temperature of only 9C, but a 10 mph north-west wind helped riders on the mainly uphill outer leg.
It was a first ride for newcomer Jack Ritchie, while William Calder took 22 seconds off the previous week’s first ride and 88-year-old Alasdair Washington slashed 1 min 34 sec from the week before to take maximum points in the season-long handicap league.
Three riders competed on standard road bikes (RB), a new category which excludes aerodynamic aids such as disc wheels and triathlon bars, and is aimed at encouraging new riders.
Times: 1 Stuart Anderson (Wick), 22 min 44 sec; 2 Danny Miller (Wick), 24.45; 3 Roger Broughton, 27.30; 4 Iain Miller, 28.06; 5 Alasdair Washington, 29.30; 6 William Calder (RB), 30.10; 7 Jack Ritchie (RB), 33.48; 8 Martine Hughes (RB), 35.22.
