THE new Caithness writing group, The Write Place 2b, will have a book launch of Mysterious Chronicles on Saturday, April 13, in Tesco Wick from 9am to 7.30pm.

The group began with two members on August 1 last year and now has 12 "enthusiastic writers" on board.

Group funder Glyn Salisbury said: "We started with a one page monthly newsletter by email which has now grown to a 12-page monthly e-magazine.

"We have created a 24-page Easter special with short stories, puzzles and more. These are on sale in three shops in Thurso and three in Wick, costing £1 each.

"The members are so enthusiastic about writing and we have also got the first group book out."

Glyn said he feels "proud to be encouraging younger writers" who will become the next generation of storytellers.

The group has several projects on the go, including more printed specials and a Christmas edition of the next Mysterious Chronicles.

"We are proud to be hosting daily events for Scottish Book Week in November. One event running through the whole week will be a writing marathon involving other writers from outside the group."
