Work order for Thurso man who punched his mother

A Thurso man who punched his mother in the face has been given a community-based sentence as a direct alternative to a jail term.

Kyle Easson (24) had been drinking when he struck Susan Easson at her home in Langland Court, Pennyland, on August 28. The assault occurred during an argument which got out of hand. The blow left Mrs Easson with swollen cheeks and bruising.

Fiscal Sue Foard told Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday that another person present intervened and pulled the accused away. Mrs Easson subsequently complained to the police.

The accused was found to have breached a non-harassment order banning him from contacting Mrs Easson.

Sheriff Ian Miller was told that the accused Easson had apologised to his mother and was reconciled with her and his father.

Easson, of Bayview Terrace, Thurso, admitted the assault and the bail breach, and was ordered to carry out 140 hours of unpaid community work under supervision.
