Residents at Wick's Seaview House care home are making good use of cosy new blankets, thanks to the crochet skills of a well-wisher who lives hundreds of miles away.

Staff were delighted when a box arrived in the post from Marilyn Roberts, of South Queensferry, containing 18 knee and shoulder blankets in different colours.

Administrator Barbara Smith said: “It is such a wonderful gesture."

Registered mental health nurse Tricia Crowe added: "Our residents will be so appreciative of all the hard work, time and effort that went into producing them in such wonderful colours.”

Marilyn, who is originally from Wick, told Barbara she will keep crocheting until she has made 41 so that all the Seaview House residents can have one each.

Activities coordinator Mandy Wilson said: “What a wonderful gesture for us to be thought of by an ex-Wicker.

“Some residents used to crochet themselves and know how much work goes into it. We look forward to the next parcel.”

Resident Cathie Anderson said: “What a lovely thought. I am seeing one I would like to have for my knees, and know it will keep me cosy. A big thank-you from us all.”

Seaview House is run by Barchester Healthcare. The home provides care for 41 residents, from respite care to long-term stays.
