A woman was remanded in custody after breaching her curfew.

A WOMAN broke a court curfew for the second time in a matter of days because she had no money for electricity and went to a house which had heating, Wick Sheriff Court heard today.

Irene McPhee (54), of Kinnaird Street, Wick, admitted breaching the curfew by not being in her home between 7pm and 7am on February 7. She was not in the house at 11.10pm.

However, solicitor Neil Wilson pointed out the reason she was not at home was because she had no money for electricity and was cold so she and her partner went to a house where they could be warm.

He also pointed out McPhee was confused about the conditions of the curfew although they were explained to her when she appeared on a similar charge on Monday.

“She was still unclear about the terms which were imposed,” said Mr Wilson, who pointed out his client is due to appear in court on Monday on a deferred sentence.

Sheriff Andrew Berry said it would be easier to deal with both matters then and remanded her in custody in the meantime.
