A 34-year-old woman has admitted stealing a quantity of spirits and other alcohol from a Thurso supermarket.

Toni Jayne Leigh Brennan was not present in court but pleaded guilty to a charge of committing the theft via her solicitor at Wick Sheriff Court on Monday.

The court heard that she had made off with two bottles of spirits and four bottles containing alcohol from the branch of the Co-op in Meadow Lane, Thurso on February 13 this year.

Her co-accused, 26-year-old Dominic Matthew Long, of 39 Holborn Avenue, Thurso, tendered a plea of not guilty to the theft, it having been alleged that he committed the offence while on bail for other matters.

His plea was accepted by the Crown.

Brennan, of 14 Knockglass Road, Dunbeath, has a record of previous convictions, including an offence of shoplifting dealt with last year.

Her sentence was deferred until July 25 for her to be personally present in court.
