A Forss woman who was found to be almost six times the alcohol limit while in charge of her car has been fined £300.

Amanda Robertson also incurred 10 penalty points after she pleaded guilty at Wick Sheriff Court on Monday.

The 41-year-old sat drinking in her car outside her home on Burrigale Road, Forss, after making a school run on December 16, last year.

Police who had reason to check the vehicle suspected she had been drinking. Tests revealed a breath-alcohol level of 132 mg – the legal limit is 22 mg.

The accused, a first offender, was said to have moved into the area prior to the offence.

Sheriff Andrew Berry took account of Robertson’s limited income but added that the level of alcohol was “very high”.
