An Occumster woman has been accused of overtaking two vehicles carrying horses and stopping in front of them, blocking a main road in both directions.

Louise Bain (42) has pleaded not guilty to a charge of dangerous driving and will stand trial at Wick Sheriff Court later this year.

The incident is said to have taken place on August 17, last year, at the Red Wharf Croft, on the A882 between Watten and Haster.

Bain, of Schoolhouse, Lower Camster access road, Occumster, is alleged to have swerved in front of the horsebox drivers, Kevin Donn and John Swanson, after overtaking them and forcing them to brake harshly to avoid a collision.

Her solicitor, Fiona MacDonald, is due to fight her case at a trial on September 5.
