Window of Thurso council house smashed with baseball bat

A Wick woman used a baseball bat to smash a window at her former partner’s home in Thurso.

Police were called and Kirsty Gallacher (26) was charged with causing the damage, the town’s sheriff court was told on Wednesday.

Fiscal Sue Foard said that neighbours heard shouting at Steven Cordiner’s council home at Cruives House in Thurso, on August 11, but could not make out what was said.

However, Miss Foard added: “They saw Gallacher strike the window with the baseball bat. She left the scene and the police were contacted.”

Sheriff Janys Scott noted Gallacher’s record of offending and expressed concern about her behaviour, in particular the use of a baseball bat.

However, the sheriff also took account of a background report which was "sympathetic".

Gallacher, of Cairndhuna Terrace, Wick, was ordered to pay Highland Council compensation of £280, the cost of boarding up the window and replacing it. She pleaded guilty and admitted an offending record.
