Win tickets to Northern Nashville Country Music Festival!
ORGANISERS of this year’s Northern Nashville Country Music Festival in Halkirk are promising a varied line-up with something for everyone on the bill.
Among the weekend’s headliners is platinum award-winning American songstress Suzy Bogguss and joining her from the US will be young Rusty Rierson, popular entertainer Radney Foster and true Texas gentleman Kelly Spinks.
European visitors include Highway 40, from Sweden, while Ireland will also be well represented. Taking the stage will be Kathy Kane, Shaun Loughrey, Stephen Smyth and queen of country Philomena Begley, who will be joined by son Aidan Quinn.
The festival, which will be held from April 18-20 in the village indoor riding centre, will also feature a wealth of talent from the UK.
Raintown, from Glasgow, who are reportedly the hottest new contemporary country music duo around, are due to play as well as Nicky James and The State of the Heart Band, and east coast band New Gambler, who will be making their festival debut.

Locally, the festival will be represented by the Northern Nashville club local band of the year winners Manson Grant & The Dynamos, the recently re-formed Duke Boys and a Thurso High School band.
Christine Gray, of the festival committee, said: “That’s a little of what you can expect over the course of the weekend – if you want to keep what has become one of the biggest live country events in Britain on your doorstep then please come out and support it.”
